Handphone Shopping

When it comes to buying handphone, I am very particular about it. I do not mind waiting for a model that I like and a model that has good functions in it, like camera, radio, etc.

My first handphone is a bulky and huge one -- the earliest pioneer of handphone. In those days, not many people had handphone. Most people had pagers then. My father bought me that handphone and it costs a lot of money. My father is very good to me.

After that, more new models of handphones were sold in the market. And the price of handphones were getting cheaper also. Soon, more and more people were taking handphones. Now handphones are very common now -- even maids and foreign workers are seen walking on the road, talking on their handphones. Those days of carrying pagers around are gone.

Over the years, whenever there are new promotions or new plans, I will upgrade my handphone. Normal contract last for about 2 years and the battery life of battery will not perform well after that as well. After Motorola, the next model I had is Ericsson, followed by Nokia 8210, Nokia 8250, Nokia 6610 and now Nokia N80. My husband had several handphones over the years as well -- Nokia 3310, Samsung, Motorola etc. Among all the handphones in the market, I like Nokia best. Nokia 6610 does not have camera function. My canon camera is not functioning well and I cannot take pictures. However, I do not like to buy something that I do not like. I have been looking around the handphone shops whenever I went shopping. I like Nokia 6288 -- the white ones. But there is hardly white ones around -- limited stock. So the handphones which I like normally don't have the colour that I like.

More than one year is gone since I started to look for handphones. Everybody in my family -- my mother, my sister, my sister-in-law, my nieces and nephews, friends, most people around me can take pictures almost anytime with their handphones. It is so convenient to have a handphone with camera in it. But I was not in any hurry. The purpose of handphone is to make calls. I can wait for my favourite handphone. Then one day, I come across Nokia N80.
It looks similar to Nokia 6288. But it doesn't have white colour. It only has black and silver. I want the silver one but again those stores that I enquired all got black colour. I asked the sales staff to reserve the silver one for me. One month passed and when I check with them, they told me that there were no more stock of silver ones. So I waited again and went to other stores.


This is Nokia N80. I prefer this silver colour one to the black one.

This is my latest handphone. I have been looking at handphone for more than a year. There is no models which I like for the past years.

I could not see the models of the phone I like. Nokia N80 looks good. It comes with 2 cameras -- primary and secondary cameras. The resolution is good as well. So in the end I decided to get Nokia N80 even if it is not my favourite colour (white). It doesn't look that bad either in black afterall! This is indeed my favourite handphone -- I can play my favourite songs and my ringtone is my favourite songs too. I can take pictures of myself and I can take pictures everywhere I go.
